ENERGY WIRE: Maine suspends 'gross metering' rules for larger users

"The Maine Public Utilities Commission yesterday handed medium and large non-residential electricity users a victory when it suspended "gross metering" rules that opponents say amount to an added tax on solar energy users.
The vote by the three-member commission was unanimous.

"The PUC was responding to a petition filed in October by solar installer Insource Renewables LLC, saying the state's rate design for such customers is unfair because it placed excessive costs on all ratepayers to implement the policy."
